Is Chivalry dead

Is chivalry dead and buried.

Is there a generation of males who don't know how to be Chivas.

Scott Farrel

Somewhere along the line, we got it pounded into our heads that chivalry and equality could not co-exist. But I think the analysts and social commentators who told us that, didn't have a thorough understanding of what chivalry really was. They saw an act of courtesy or deference and interpreted it as the result of a condescending attitude. What they missed was the respect and mutual admiration which such an act of chivalry conveys — if they had looked at chivalry from that angle, I suspect there never would have been any talk about its "death.

Chivalry is dead! ... Or maybe it isn’t. It depends on who you talk to. For some, the actions of courtesy and manners we often associate with chivalry are considered outdated relics of an age when men dominated Western society. For others, chivalrous courtesies are a welcome antidote to the rudeness and intolerance that abounds in the world today. The divide between these two approaches to the image of chivalrous “gentlemanly manners” provides grounds for a lively debate as to whether chivalry should be allowed to fade away, or should be revived in our younger generation.

so what do you think???

this blog is set up for students in LIT107
as well as students in the MPI104 classes

strong words

is it dead or have men just stopped doing it because they just didnt want to do it any more???

Most women I know and I am old...love it when a man has good manners because that is what being chivalrous is all about
maybe the younger generation should should take a few example of courtly love and use them....

In short, chivalry is dying, basic manners are lost on younger generations and simple acts of kindness have taken a back seat in our new self centred and materialistic society.
However chivalry is not yet dead, I for one still try to uphold chivalry and hope to one day see it's revival, howevr seeing as generations to come will learn their core values from parents who have abbandoned chivalry this is unlikely.
That is my bright view on this matter
